Requirements

PARSEC is made available as open source. We only ask you for two things:

Please cite our summary paper if you use PARSEC for a publication.

Send us a citation for your publication.

When dealing with PARSEC, three types of licenses have to be distinguished:

Licenses for source code
Licenses for inputs
Licenses for the PARSEC framework (everything else)

The framework and everything else which we created and provide is covered by a BSD-style license. A list with all licenses used by PARSEC source code and inputs can be seen in the next section. It is your responsibility to make sure that you do not violate any licensing terms. We merely distribute all files for your convenience and are not responsible for your actions.

List of Licenses

The following packages use their own license. This information is provided under the terms of the PARSEC framework license, which among other things means that we do not guarantee its correctness. Only the copyright information and license text provided with the PARSEC distribution has any legal significance.

bodytrack: Apache License Version 2.0 for source code and inputs

facesim: BSD-style license for source code and inputs

ferret: GNU GPL Version 3 for source code, inputs are public domain

freqmine: BSD-style license for source code

vips: GNU GPL Version 2.1 for source code, inputs use the following licensing terms: Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.5 Generic, GNU FDL Version 1.2, NASA Usage Guidelines as well as public domain

x264: GNU GPL Version 2 for source code, Creative Commons Public License for inputs

canneal: BSD-style license for source code

glib: GNU GPL Version 2

gsl: GNU GPL Version 2

imagick: Image Magick License

libxml2: BSD-style license

mesa: Various licenses, MIT license by default. (Detailed list)

ssl: Dual license: OpenSSL license and SSLeay license (both are BSD-style licenses)

tbblib: GNU GPL Version 2

yasm: GNU GPL Version 2

zlib: BSD-style license
